Jinhe Naaz Hai Hind Par Woh Kahan Hain

Here is an amazing video by Rabbi (of Bulle ki Jaana fame) paying tribute to four real life heroes, who sacrificed their lives fighting against corruption and standing for what they thought was right. The heroes mentioned in this song are:

1. Bilkis Bano- She is one of the victims of Godhra riots and the only witness in the case. She was gangraped and her 14 family members killed during the riots and even after all kinds of political pressures and official harrasments she came forward during the trial and finally 14 men were sentenced to jail in 2008.
2. Satyendra Dubey- He was working as an Executive engineer in Gaya when he was assassinated for being the whistle blower of the corruption going on in Highway Construction project.
3. S. Manjunath- He was a marketing manager in Indian Oil Corporation and while he was performing his duty and enforcing correct practices in operation of Gas stations (petrol pumps) in UP, he was shot dead for shutting down petrol pumps which were selling adulterated oil.
4. Navleen Kumar-She worked for rights of tribals and was fighting against land mafia who were taking lands of tribals by force in outskirts of Mumbai. She was stabbed 19 times on 19th of June 2002 in her flat where she died.

This song pays tribute to all these unsung heroes. The lyrics (in Hindi), the national anthem tune in between the lyrics just touches the heart and also makes your blood boil in anger. Here are the lyrics:

RTI- You can do it

Right to Information filing is so easy even a school kid can do it- yup it’s true. Recently a 3rd grade kid, Aishwarya, in Lucknow filed a RTI application for removal of garbage which was piling up in front of her school and endangering the health of the kids. Even though the Lucknow Municipal corporation has still to act on her application for removal of the garbage, but atleast, it has been noticed and, hopefully, in coming days they will take care of it.
